Rehabilitating one of Côte d'Ivoire's sporting symbols
Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, located in Abidjan, is one of Côte d’Ivoire’s most emblematic stadiums.
The rehabilitation and expansion of this 27,000 square meter facility sought to provide the city with a new sports infrastructure, increasing its capacity and making it suitable for international football, athletics competitions and events.
Inspired by local references and culture, the architecture aimed to create a striking and contemporary icon for the city of Abidjan.
The stadium will have a capacity of around 30,000 seats and all the adjacent functional areas will be remodeled and extended, including areas for logistical support, an athletes’ area, a warm-up pitch, areas dedicated to the media and the public, a 150-space car park and an office building.
